Position Overview:
The Associate Vice President (AVP) for Development serves as a senior member of the Museum’s External Relations leadership team, partnering closely with the Vice President of External Affairs, Chief Development Officer, and other leaders in the organization to drive the Museum’s philanthropic vision forward. This role provides strategic leadership for all fundraising initiatives, with a particular focus on cultivating, securing, and stewarding major and principal gifts that advance the Museum’s mission and long-term sustainability. The AVP for Development will champion a robust culture of philanthropy, inspiring trustees, staff, and supporters to engage meaningfully in advancing the institution’s impact. Through relationship-driven strategy, data-informed decision making, and creative approaches to engagement, this position will strengthen the Museum’s pipeline of high-level donors and ensure that generosity is woven into the fabric of the institution.
Compensation & Benefits:
The position is a salaried, full-time, hybrid position with a salary range of $200-210k annually, depending on professional experience. GMSI is located at 5700 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. Generous benefits package includes:
