Position Overview:
The Associate Vice President (AVP) for External Affairs serves as a senior member of the Museum’s External Relations leadership team, partnering closely with the Vice President of External Affairs and the Chief Development Officer, as well as other leaders in the organization, to advance the Museum’s philanthropic vision. This role provides strategic leadership for the Museum’s stewardship, engagement, special events, development operations, and membership programs, ensuring that every interaction with donors and members reflects the Museum’s mission, values, and impact. The AVP of External Affairs plays a pivotal role in strengthening the Museum’s culture of philanthropy through meaningful engagement, exceptional stewardship, and operational excellence that support and sustain donor relationships at all levels. Through a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and efficiency, this position ensures that the Museum’s fundraising infrastructure, data systems, and donor communications work seamlessly together to inspire trust, celebrate generosity, and elevate the donor experience. Based on business need, may be aligned to additional duties as needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
The position is a salaried, full-time, hybrid position with a salary range of $200-210k annually, depending on professional experience. GMSI is located at 5700 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL. Generous benefits package includes:
