Margaret’s Village provides a Transitional Housing and Empowerment Program to End Homelessness for Women, Children, and Families on Chicago’s South Side. For 50 years, we have been an integral and beloved part of the Englewood and South Chicago communities. We partner with many organizations to provide wraparound services that help our residents achieve holistic stability, attain employment, and return to permanent housing. We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Development – please see the link below to our careers page for a full description of this opportunity.

As Development Director, you will have a high level of agency to shape and grow our development efforts. You will plan, oversee and execute fundraising activities, report to the Executive Director, and collaborate with executive leadership, staff, board members, and committees. Together with the Executive Director, you will serve as a primary communication source for Margaret’s Village. 

As a qualified candidate, you have a high level of personal and professional integrity, and you enjoy the fulfillment that comes with creating transformational impact in the lives of those we serve. In this hands-on position, you will apply your commitment to the human services sector, your passion for fundraising, and your love of meeting people to carry out the following responsibilities:

  • Create an annual development plan and timeline
  • Raise funds from government, foundation, corporate, and individual funders
  • Write grant applications and grant reports
  • Plan and execute in-person fundraising events, online appeals, and direct mail campaigns
  • Nurture relationships with current supporters (individual, foundation, and corporate) 
  • Cultivate new supporters (individual, foundation, and corporate supporters) and major-gift donors
  • Cultivate corporate, professional, and community partners for pro-bono support and services
  • Help grow our planned giving program
  • Network and present at various events to promote our mission
  • Work with marketing and social media volunteers to raise awareness 
  • Supervise volunteers and interns to assist with development functions
